Congressional Funding to Create Jobs in Iowa PDF Print

The appropriations process allows me to request funding for worthy projects in my district that create jobs and directly benefit Iowans.  These projects help provide affordable healthcare, improve Iowa's infrastructure and put Iowans back to work, among other benefits.

Every Iowa taxpayer deserves to know how their tax dollars are being spent.  During my time in Congress, I've worked to implement wide-ranging reforms of the earmark process, including reforms that allow every American to determine which Member of Congress submitted any earmark that receives funding.  This year, I'm posting every earmark that I request online, to provide additional transparency as Congress makes federal spending decisions.

Each of my funding requests this year was selected for meeting at least one of these criteria:

  • Creating Jobs:  Projects would save or create jbos in Iowa's First District, helping to boost the economy and put Iowans back to work
  • Meeting Critical Needs:  Common-sense earmark programs that help Iowans meet a critical need
